Dr Beth Russ

Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Honorary clinical lecturer

MBBS FRANZCOG

Dr Russ has been working in private practice for the past 19 years and feels incredibly privileged to be able to work with women and develop relationships that span many years.

“I believe my role as an obstetrician is to guide, reassure & allow nature to take its course but to know when to step in if nature needs a helping hand.”

“One of the most amazing things is that you get to look after women over one, two, three or more pregnancies. I have patients who start seeing me in their teens and then see me for the births of their children and again later in life for gynaecological health”

Dr Beth Russ was born and raised in Adelaide and achieved her medical degree from Adelaide University in 1996. After completing her internship and resident years she undertook six years of specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology during which time she was awarded the John O’Loughlin Medal for research. She received her fellowship with RANZCOG in 2006.

“For my gynaecological patients I believe the ability to listen & offer a holistic approach to their concerns is the most important goal & I try to achieve this for each patient.”

Dr Russ manages infertility, all aspects of pregnancy care including patients who are low risk and those with complex medical needs. She also offers comprehensive gynaecological care to women of all ages with an interest in infertility & pre-pregnancy planning, colposcopy (for abnormal smears), menopause and management of heavy periods.

Dr Russ delivers babies privately at Burnside hospital, Toorak Gardens where she also performs gynaecological surgery. She has admitting rights at WCH for patients who need their obstetric care transferred for higher acuity care. She is committed to continuity of care and as such does not participate in a weekday group practice model but does share weekend on call arrangements and holiday cover with other like minded obstetricians.

Dr Russ also holds the title of Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide where she is involved in the teaching & examination of the next generation of medical students during their O&G rotation. She is a member of the SA Education Subcommittee providing annual education forums to doctors and midwives.

On a personal note Beth met her husband Jeremy when they were both working as junior doctors. Together they have two very loud sons and two even louder dogs. She loves to travel, read and kickbox. More recently she has also become addicted to Outlander on Netflix, the ACOTAR book series and Fourth Wing.

Sammy

Practice Midwife, Bachelor of midwifery

Hynobirthing Educator, Hypnobirthing Australia

Theatre co-ordinator

Sammy is a midwife with 20 years experience and has worked alongside Dr Beth for 18 of those years.

“I love being a midwife because it allows me to be a constant source of support and guidance during one of the most life-changing experiences for women and their families.

It’s incredibly rewarding being there from the start of a pregnancy, building a bond of trust and providing continuity of care. It’s really important to me knowing that our women feel heard, cared for and unafraid to ask questions. It’s an absolute privilege to share this journey with our women and their families - how lucky am I?”

She has a passion for educating couples in their journey to parenthood and is dedicated to supporting and empowering expecting families in preparation for a positive birthing experience by providing holistic patient-centred care. This passion led her to becoming a Hypnobirthing Australia Certified Practitioner.

She is available for questions and support antenatally & postnatally and visits families in their home following the birth of their baby.

She is also a skilled gynaecological nurse providing support and guidance to women preparing for surgery or having in-rooms procedures.

On a personal note she is a mum to 3 amazing kids and loves to spend her weekends pottering in the garden with her partner Rob whilst also looking after her 3 dogs, 2 rescue cats, 2 turtles, a talking parrot, a geriatric tree frog (he’s 23) and her fish.

Natalee

Practice administration

In addition to being the first person you see when you come to our practice, Natalee can also be contacted by phone or email for assistance with appointments, financial or general administrative queries. She’s also a superstar at baby cuddles when needed.

“I’ve been working in women’s health for nearly four years now, and I absolutely love what I do. With a background in customer service, I’ve really enjoyed bringing those skills into my role as a medical receptionist—helping patients feel welcome, supported, and cared for from the moment they walk through the door.

I feel incredibly lucky to come to work each day alongside such kind, caring, and beautiful women. One of the best parts of my job is meeting all of our lovely patients and being part of their journey.”

On a personal note Natalee is a wife and proud mum to three beautiful kids.

Her weekends are usually jam-packed with kids' sport—which she wouldn’t have any other way! She also loves spending time with her girlfriends and making the most of life’s busy, beautiful moments.
